Privacy Policy
Last updated: [OWNER: set date before publishing] · DRAFT, not yet in effect
This policy explains what information PEZ Price Guide (pezpriceguide.com) collects, why we collect it, and what control you have over it. The short version: we collect what we need to run a collector site and nothing more. We do not sell your data and we do not run ads or third-party analytics trackers.
What we collect
Account information. When you sign up (via Clerk, using Google or an email address) we store your username and email address. If you optionally link a Discord account to verify an Erin Collects PEZ YouTube membership, we also store your Discord user id and your membership tier and its source.
Collection data. The contents of your collection and wishlist, so we can track values over time and send the alerts you ask for. Your collection is private unless you choose to make your profile public.
Contributions. Catalog contributions you submit, including uploaded photos. Approved photos and contributions become part of the public catalog, visible to everyone, and remain in the catalog even if you later delete your account.
Messages and preferences. Help messages, feature requests, in-app notifications, and your email preferences.
Seller details. If you sell in the marketplace, the payment handles (such as PayPal or Venmo) and ship-from country you choose to provide. These are shown to members viewing your listings so buyers can pay you directly.
Billing. Payments are processed by Stripe. We store a Stripe customer reference and subscription status, never your card number. YouTube-tier memberships are billed by YouTube; we never see that payment data at all.
How we use it
To operate your account and membership, display your collection and wishlist, process contributions and credits, run the marketplace, answer help messages, and send the notifications and emails you have enabled. Emails (wishlist alerts, sale notices, support replies) are delivered through Resend and can be turned off in your account settings.
Automated processing
We use the Anthropic API (Claude) for two narrow, server-side tasks: matching eBay listings to catalog dispensers, and triaging feature requests. The listing-matching prompts contain only dispenser attributes and eBay listing titles, no user data. Feature request triage sends the title and description you submitted, nothing else about your account. No decisions about your account or billing are made by AI.
Who processes data for us
We use a small set of service providers, each only for its stated purpose: Clerk (sign-in and account management), Stripe (payments), Cloudflare R2 (image hosting), Resend (email delivery), Discord (membership role verification, only if you link it), Anthropic (the automated processing above), and Railway (application hosting). Affiliate partners (eBay Partner Network, Amazon Associates, and Etsy via Awin) receive standard referral information when you click an affiliate link; see our Affiliate Disclosure.
Cookies and tracking
We use the session cookies set by Clerk to keep you signed in. Your light/dark theme choice is stored locally in your browser, not on our servers. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics or tracking scripts.
How long we keep data
Account data is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account, your account record and the personal data linked to it (collection, wishlist, notifications, help messages) are deleted from our systems. Approved catalog contributions and photos stay in the public catalog, no longer linked to your identity. [OWNER: confirm you want approved contributions retained after account deletion; this matches the current contribution license.] Backups age out on a rolling schedule. [OWNER: confirm backup retention window.]
Your rights
Wherever you live, we extend the same basics: you can ask what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You can delete your account yourself from account settings, which triggers deletion as described above, or send any request through our Help form and we will respond. If you are in a jurisdiction with specific privacy laws (such as the GDPR or CCPA), these rights apply to you as required by those laws, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us through the Help form and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and the date at the top, and notify signed-in members of significant changes.
